A Returning Guest

12/15/09

5/19/09

Yesterday, an unexpected guest returned to Shawnee for a winter holiday. In May of this year, Shawnee released an Osprey that was previously injured.
The bird spent a year being rehabilitated leading up to this magnificent moment.
It only took a few months for our fair feathered friend to visit the beautiful Shawnee Inn again.

The Eagle has Landed

Shawnee's Bald Eagle friend landed just outside the Inn's side entrance this morning. An interesting fact about Bald Eagles is that they only migrate if their water source freezes. Quite an amazing bird.

New Scrap Bowl for 2009

It's November. The employees at The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort know that means one of two things - Thanksgiving and the annual Employee Scrap Bowl.

In past years there have only been two games - Grounds vs. Golf and the Powder Puff game.

This year, a third game is scheduled - The Mighty Shawnee Inn vs. a new kid on the block; The Gem and Keystone. Will Rothman and Stripp be able to cook up a victory or will Howell and the Inn reign supreme!

We'll know in a couple of weeks - check back often.

The Juggernaut String Band will be performing a free community concert on Tuesday, November 3rd at 7:00 pm in Shawnee's Fireplace Lobby.

An upbeat, exciting show that’s fun for the whole family, Juggernaut fuses American banjo and African hand drums with traditional and original songs for a sound they call “Appalachian Juju.” The African roots of American blues run through songs penned by banjo player Peter Taney, uniting fiddling with the tribal rhythms of drummers Michael Cooke and Carolyn Burbage. Songs in English, Assante, and Cajun French swim in a “Juju stew” with bluegrass ballads and novelty tunes.

This year, ShawneeCraft Brewing is planning to create a pumpkin ale from Shawnee's own pumpkins, picked from the Kitchen Garden.
